The Zone W (Triangle Site) development forms part of the regeneration of King’s Cross Central being carried out by developer Argent King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership. The Triangle Site is a 6,600sqm area of land located to the north east of the development, on the north side of York Way, straddling the boundary between the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington. David Morley Architects secured outline planning permission in July 2008 for a mixed use development comprising a combination of open market accommodation, social rented accommodation, key worker and intermediate accommodation, a leisure block and retail space.
The siting of these facilities around a public square perfectly frames the concept which the buildings have been designed:
• A new London Square
• A new destination at the edge of the King’s Cross Central Development
• A place to live
• A place to visit
In addition to Masterplan Architects, DMA are also detail architects for Building W2 – an 8 storey residential building with 3 retail units on ground floor providing 78 apartments across a mix of social rented, intermediate and open market apartments.
